Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for prospective cohort: (1) patients with a traumatic fracture, aged =18 years, were scheduled for surgery; (2) fresh fracture, injury to surgery time < 3 weeks; (3) patients or authorized clients gave informed consent and signed consent to participate in this study. The retrospective study included orthopaedic trauma patients admitted in 2009-2020. Inclusion criteria: (1) patients with traumatic fracture, age =18 years, (2) fresh fracture, the time from injury to Operation < 3 weeks, (3) planning operation, (4) expected hospitalization =3 days.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for prospective cohort: (1) patients with hand fracture only, (2) patients with spinal fracture, (3) patients with traumatic brain injury, (4) patients without surgical treatment after admission, (5) patients with less than 3 days of hospitalization, (6) patients with VTE before trauma, (3) patients with traumatic brain injury, patients who were still present at the time of admission. Exclusion criteria for retrospective cohort: (1) fracture of hand, including fracture of phalanges, metacarpals and Carpals, (2) spinal fracture, (3) traumatic brain injury, (4) no operation, (5) hospitalization less than 3 days; (6) patients with VTE before the injury.
