Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A total of 60 emergency patients scheduled to undergo laparoscopic appendectomy at Zigong Fourth People's Hospital (Sichuan, China) were randomly divided into a control group (n=30) and a probiotic group (n=30)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: periappendiceal abscess, diabetes mellitus, severe organ dysfunction, or conversion to laparotomy. General data such as sex and age were comparable between the two groups
