Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: 100 healthy individuals, 100 T2DM patients, 100 T2DM combined with NAFLD patients, and 100 pure NAFLD patients were selected (T2DM diagnostic criteria met the T2DM diagnostic criteria published by the World Health Organization in 1999; NAFLD diagnosis met the NAFLD diagnostic criteria established by the Fatty Liver and Alcoholic Liver Disease Group of the Chinese Medical Association Hepatology Branch in 2018).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects were recruited if they exhibited (1) viral hepatitis, hepatic cirrhosis, biliary tract obstructions, or autoimmune liver disease, (2) a history of alcohol use (> 210 g/week or > 140 g/week for over 12 months for males and females, respectively, (3) severe infections, acute diabetic complications, or pregnancy, or (4) were using drugs with the potential to impact lipid metabolism.
