Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) the adolescent had been diagnosed with T1DM for at least 1 year; 2) 13-18 years old; 3) currently on an intensive insulin regimen (no less than 2 insulin injections per day or insulin pump); 4) poor sleep quality, i.e., a score of greater than 7 on the Pittsburgh Sleepiness Index (PQI) scale; and 5) able to communicate and read proficiently in Mandarin Chinese.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) children with T2DM; 2) with severe diabetes-related complications or untreated ADHD; 3) with diagnosed severe psychiatric disorders; 4) with other major chronic illnesses (including thyroid disorders, asthma, and hypertension, etc.) 5) with current severe physiological sleep problems, such as obstructive sleep apnea.
