Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients aged between 18 to 80 years; 2) Patients diagnosed with UC based on Consensus on the diagnostic and treatment standards for inflammatory bowel disease in China; 3) Patients attached to the damp-heat syndrome of large intestine or Syndrome of excessive heat toxin; 4)The colonoscopy patients agreed to participate in this study with the abandoned portion of the colonoscopic mucosa taken during colonoscopy, which is necessary for the diagnosis of the disease, and signed a written informed consent form, willing to cooperate with the follow-up. The surgical patients agreed to use the discarded tissue samples for the study, and signed the written informed consent form, willing to cooperate with the follow-up.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Patients who had received chemotherapy, radiotherapy or targeted therapy within 1 month before surgery; 2)Patients with HIV infection; 3)Patients with coinfection of Schistosoma japonicum; 4)Patients with non-colon primary cancer; 5)Patients with hereditary nonpolypic colorectal cancer; 6) Colon cancer patients caused by chemical drugs; 7) Radiation exposure causes colon cancer patients; 8) The researchers determined that patients who were not suitable to participate in this study.
