Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1: Diagnosis of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke within the past 6 months 2: adults between the ages of 18 and 85 years 3: poststroke patients with impaired cognitive function (MoCA <26, NIHSS <5 at enrollment) 4: ability to walk at least 10 meters without an assistive device 5: presence of superficial sensation in the lower extremity of the affected side and adequate minimal stability of the ankle during stimulated stance;
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1: Patients with lower motor neuron damage 2: sensory deficits or severe sensory abnormalities in the lower extremities that do not allow them to perceive stimuli 3: severe heart disease such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, or the need for a pacemaker 4: other in-use electrical stimulation devices 5: lower extremity metal-on-metal hip or knee prostheses 6: epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, or tumors 7: and cognitive and motor dysfunction prior to the stroke.
