Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Preliminary survey recruitment criteria: 1. Age =60 years. 2. Possess a Lishui city resident household registration and have long-term residence in the survey location (=6 months). 3. Able to actively cooperate and give informed consent. Intervention study recruitment criteria: 1. Age 65 or older with retained daily functional independence and no severe impairments in hearing, vision, or communication. 2. A Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score of less than 26. 3. A GDS-15 score of 8 or greater. 4. Not meeting the diagnostic standards for dementia. 5. No prior exposure or engagement with elderly wooden toys. 6. Provision of a signed informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for preliminary survey participants: 1. Individuals with severe somatic diseases. 2. Those diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. 3. Individuals with severe visual or hearing impairments. 4. Patients with Parkinson's disease. 5. Patients with dementia. 6. Individuals who refuse to participate in this study. Exclusion criteria for intervention study participants: 1. Difficulty in activities, with a history of serious physical illness. 2. Severe cognitive decline (reference standard: MoCA score < 9) and poor independent function. 3. Men with a sustained or recent average weekly alcohol consumption of =21 drinks, and women with an average weekly alcohol consumption of =14 drinks. 4. Presence of severe chronic cardiovascular disease, diabetes, severe gastrointestinal problems, etc.
