Interventions

Tai Chi group:TC exercise interventions began in April 2020 and lasted 12 weeks, three times a week, with two TC exercise sessions led by an experienced TC-trained instructor and one completed by stud
Control group:The control group was instructed to maintain their original daily routines and physical activity habits and to not receive any new or additional exercise interventions.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria required that participants: 1) aged between 18 and 22 years, 2) could be independently ambulant, 3) were able to participate in a low-moderate intensity gentle movement group for 12 weeks, 4) attended classes on the Huzhou University, 5) had a normal or corrected vision, and no color blindness, 5) had been nonsmoker, not drinking alcohol, 6) had not been physically active regularly (more than once per month), 7) had not taken antioxidant supplementation, 8) had no use of medication regularly, and 9) had an absence of musculoskeletal pain or condition that limits exercise practice, and 11) the commitment of attending the TC sessions, and a self-reported sedentary lifestyle (i.e., not engaging in PA for the last 6 months).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria: 1) participated in any type of professional sports, 2) reported any history of cardiopulmonary disease, 3) were pregnancies or suspected to be pregnant, 4) took any prescription drugs (except oral contraceptives), took acute infections, illegal drugs, pregnancy, and vigorous physical exercise during the previous 2 weeks, 5) experienced in applying cognitive tasks or any limitations in the ability to complete cognitive testing procedures, and 6) consumed any caffeinated or alcoholic products during the days of their study participation.
