Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Aged 60 and above, male or female; (2) Meet the diagnostic criteria for chronic constipation in Western medicine and Chinese medicine; (3) No other medications promoting gastrointestinal motility have been taken orally in the last 1 month; (4) The patients themselves and their families were informed about the content of this study and signed a willingness to consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) a history of previous allergies to relevant medications (including Dachaihu decoction and polyethylene glycol electrolyte dispersions, dimethylsiloxane). (2) Those who are not suitable for oral administration of Da Chai Hu Tang (assessed by a Chinese medicine practitioner); (3) Unsuitable to undergo colonoscopy or belonging to the contraindications of colonoscopy (e.g., severe organic diseases of the heart, lungs, cerebrovascular, liver, kidneys, and blood system. Organic diseases of the digestive tract such as obstruction or perforation of the digestive tract, severe active inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and massive ascites. (Those with high suspicion or clear diagnosis of malignant tumors of the digestive tract, etc.); (4) Individuals who are not suitable for colonoscopic pathology (e.g., oral antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications within 7 days, etc.); (5) Accompanied by hearing, visual, and intellectual disabilities; (6) Those who did not provide informed consent.
