Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) seizure onset age =40 years; (2) Diagnosis of epilepsy according to the latest ILAE criteria; (3) Neuropsychological and imaging examinations;
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Presence of causes of epilepsy, such as cerebrovascular diseases, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, and infectious diseases of the central nervous system; (2) Presence of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia; (3) Presence of cerebral white matter lesions unrelated to vascular diseases, such as immune abnormalities, demyelinating diseases, metabolic abnormalities, toxic changes, infections and other factors; (4) Contraindications to MRI scanning, such as implantation of cardiac pacemakers, mechanical cardiac valves, cochlear implants, and so on; (5) Subjects with a diagnosis of depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or a history of alcohol or drug dependence or abuse according to DSM-IV diagnostic criteria.
