Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Outpatient, emergency and inpatient patients who were considered to have heart failure based on clinical symptoms, signs, and elevated levels of B-type natriuretic peptide, and underwent echocardiography examination. (2) Age =60 years. (3) Echocardiogram showing left ventricular ejection fraction =50% (with sinus rhythm) or =40% (with atrial fibrillation), interventricular septal thickness =12mm, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter <50mm (female) or <55mm (male).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Definitive diagnosis of myocardial infarction. (2) Definitive diagnosis of primary amyloidosis or multiple myeloma. (3) Presents with segmental wall motion abnormality. (4) Presents with severe valvular disease (as evidenced by medical history or this current echocardiographic examination). (5) Considered to have pulmonary disease (such as pulmonary embolism or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) resulting in related symptoms. (6) Left main artery or proximal left anterior descending artery stenosis, or = 2 major coronary arteries with significant stenosis (>70%). (7) Patients who have already been included in this study.
