Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Age between 18 and 75 years old; (2) Meeting =2 of the following 6 criteria according to Rome IV criteria: experiencing difficulties during evacuations; passing dry or hard stools (Bristol type 1-2); feeling incomplete evacuation; experiencing a sensation of anorectal blockage; requiring manual assistance in evacuations; having spontaneous evacuations <3 times per week. Additionally, there is a rare occurrence of dilute feces without the use of laxatives. Chronic status is defined as symptoms first appearing at least 6 months prior to diagnosis and persisting within the last 3 months
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients with a history of intestinal obstruction, electrolyte disturbance, inflammatory bowel disease, or gastrointestinal tumors; (2) Patients with a previous history of gastrointestinal surgery; (3) Patients with serious coexisting diseases about heart, liver or kidney; (4) Patients that can not tolerant polyethylene glycol due to underlying diseases; (5) Pregnant or breastfeeding females; (6) Patients with a medication history of other gastrointestinal motility drugs, laxatives or anti-laxatives in the past 2 weeks; (7) Patients that allergic to polyethylene glycol; (8) Patients who are unable to provide informed consent or who are deemed unfit by the researcher to participate in this study.
