40 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Age >40 years. (2) Meet diagnostic criteria for Parkinson's disease and meet Rome IV criteria for functional constipation, including less than 3 spontaneous bowel movements per week for the past 3 months with symptom duration of at least 6 months. (3) Signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Cognitive decline (=21 points on the MMSE rating scale) (2) History of gastroparesis, colorectal disease, or major abdominal/pelvic surgery (3) Co-morbidities that prevent reliable completion of study assessments (4) Use of probiotics or antibiotics within the past 4 weeks (5) Use of laxatives in the last week
