Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) age =18 years; (2) all patients who needed and were willing to undergo sedation/anaesthesia for gastrointestinal endoscopy consultation; (3) patients who were confirmed by the anaesthesiologist to be able to receive propofol sedation; (4) patients who had complete clinical information; (5) normal cognitive and communicative function, and were conscious; and (6) signed an informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) severe cardiopulmonary, cerebral, and renal insufficiency; (2) combination of significant gastric emptying obstruction; (3) incomplete information; (4) combination of mental disorders unable to cooperate; (5) presence of intussusception and intestinal torsion; (6) ASA anaesthesia risk level IV or above; (7) patients with difficult airway; (8) acute gastrointestinal haemorrhage; (9) pregnancy; and (10) patients with an allergy to egg yolks or soya oil (and possible propofol allergy);
