Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The eligible participants are adults aged 18 or above who understand Cantonese, who are undergoing emergency abdominal surgery (such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, laparotomy, patch repair, bowel resection, stoma creation, and hernia repair), who are in stable condition (Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) <=2 based on NTEC guideline) when emergency surgery is planned, and who are expected to stay at least until postoperative day 3.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with psychiatric disease, who cannot understand the educational materials or cooperate with the body-mind exercise, and who are planned for postoperative intensive care unit admission will be excluded.
