Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: a) Age = 65 years; b) Elective major surgery under general anesthesia (duration of surgery = 2h); c) Expected presence of more than 50% warmable surface skin; d) ASA classification = grade III.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a) Presence of preoperative psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, depression, etc.); b) Inability to communicate due to coma, language impairment, or a Brief Mental Status Examination Scale (MMSE) score = 23; c) Preoperative fever (temperature >37.3°C); d) Anticipated intraoperative deliberate cooling; e) Patent with esophageal masses or incapably placed an esophageal temperature probe; f) Neurosurgery or cardiac surgery.
