Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The subjects of this study were individuals with subclinical social anxiety and healthy controls, and the samples were from college students at Henan University of Science and Technology. Participants were included into the subclinical social anxiety group if they met the following criteria: 1) meeting MINI social anxiety disorder criterion F1 (presence of strong fears regarding social and performance situations), but having one or more other criterion (F2 to F6) missing; 2) confirming that social problems were the major source of their anxiety emotion; 3) 24-item self-administered Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale total score = 40; 4) Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale score 18. Participants were included into the healthy control group if they met the following criteria: 1) Self-stating not plagued by social anxiety or other emotion problems; 2) Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale total score 18.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for subclinical social anxiety disorder group: 1) patients with organic brain diseases, major physical diseases, infectious diseases; 2) currently or previously suffering from a DSM-5 diagnosed mental disorder and personality disorder; 3) subjects’ fear was limited to public speaking or performance; 4) evidence of drug dependence and psychoactive substance use; 5) are using or have used antipsychotic drugs or other drugs that may affect brain function, are receiving or have received psychological counseling or treatment; 6) having contraindications to nuclear magnetic scanning. Exclusion criteria for healthy control group: 1) patients with organic brain diseases, major physical diseases, infectious diseases; 2) currently or previously suffering from a DSM-5 diagnosed mental disorder and personality disorder; 3) evidence of drug dependence and psychoactive substance use; 4) are using or have used antipsychotic drugs or other drugs that may affect brain function, are receiving or have received psychological counseling or treatment; 5) having contraindications to nuclear magnetic scanning.
