Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patient had elective general anesthesia; patient waited over 30 minutes prior to surgery; informed consent was obtained; patient understood the survey content and met certain communication skills
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: patient had one or more respiratory diseases (e.g., asthma); patient was allergic to smell and sensitive to smell; previous history of anxiety disorders or other psychiatric disorders; combined history of hypertension, cardiac disease, and hyperthyroidism; and was currently using drugs affecting mood, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)
