Gold Standard:The ophthalmic artery collateral status (OACS) was divided into three grades by DSA: Grade 0 - no or slight collateral compensation (no or slight contrast filling of OA)
Grade 1 - small but definite collateral compensation (retrograde contrast flow in OA with filling of carotid siphon segment)

18 Years to 90 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) patients aged 18 years or older with unilateral carotid artery occlusion, and (2) clinical manifestations of focal neurological symptoms resulting from ipsilateral carotid artery occlusion, including ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) patients with bilateral carotid artery occlusion or contralateral carotid artery stenosis (=70%); (2) carotid artery terminal occlusion (occlusion located at the distal of the OA); (3) patients with known allergies to iodinated contrast agents; and (4) patients unsuitable for thermography examination, such as those with high fever or extensive facial skin scars.
