Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ? Age 18 years; ? confirmed sepsis or septic shock and admitted in the ICU; ? met the definition and grading criteria of acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI); ? APACHE 2 score of 30 and treated stable; ? patient and family were informed and agreed to this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ? With severe acute central nervous system injury; ? severe thoracic and abdominal trauma; ? advanced malignancy, chronic disease; ? past history of severe gastrointestinal diseases, gastrointestinal surgery; ? intestinal obstruction, abdominal hypertension, acute gastrointestinal injury grade 4 or above; ? pregnant women.
