Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Minimum criteria for the diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease: sexually active women and others at risk of sexually transmitted infections, meeting one of the following criteria: (1) uterine pressure; (2) adnexal pressure; (3) cervical pain. Additional criteria: (1) oral temperature = 38.3°C; (2) purulent mucus discharge from the cervix or vagina; (3) leukocytosis on microscopic examination of vaginal secretions; (4) increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate; (5) increased C-reactive protein level; (6) laboratory tests confirming cervical Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis infection. Specific criteria: (1) endometrial biopsy suggestive of endometritis; (2) transvaginal ultrasound or MRI suggestive of thickening of the tubal wall, fluid accumulation in the lumen, which may be accompanied by pelvic fluid or tubo-ovarian masses; (3) laparoscopy: obvious congestion on the surface of the fallopian tubes, tubal oedema, and purulent exudate at the umbilical end of the tubes or in the plasma membrane layer. The inclusion criteria for this study were patients diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease according to the diagnostic basis of pelvic inflammatory disease performed at our gynaecological outpatient clinic.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria : (1) sensitivity to transcutaneous electrical stimulation (2) psychological impairment to electrical stimulation.
