Interventions

Intervention group:The participants in the intervention group will attend the Mobility-Fit program led by a facility-based instructor 3 times per week, 45 minutes per session for 12 weeks
Control group:Participants in the control group will participate in usual practice and some regular stretching exercise program (part of the standard care) offered by the care facility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants will be recruited if they are (1) older men and women (65 years or older) who reside in care facilities; (2) able to get up from a chair (with or without using the armrests) and stand for 20 seconds; and (3) medically stable and approved by their physician.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: We will exclude the participants if they (1) do not understand simple instructions; (2) receive treatment for medical conditions that preclude physical activity (e.g., are bedridden); or (3) are legally blind.
