Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: We recruited non-labouring term parturients on admission for elective caesarean delivery under neuraxial anesthesia. The inclusion criteria were >18 years old, >38 weeks’ gestation, scheduled for elective cesarean delivery under neuraxial anesthesia, and having followed the hospital fasting guidelines (eight hours after a fatty meal or meat, six hours after a light meal, and two hours after clear fluids).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Refusal to participate, premature birth, multiple pregnancies, pathological pregnancy, multiple pregnancy, previous upper gastrointestinal (oesophagus, stomach) and/or upper abdominal surgery, hiatus hernia or other known disorder of gastric emptying, body mass index (BMI) >40 kg/m2 and diabetes mellitus.
