Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) diagnosed with medial compartment KOA; (2) refused knee arthroplasty; (3) agreed to PFPE surgery or required nonsurgical, conservative treatment; (4) available for preoperative/baseline, postoperative (PFPE) and 5-year follow-up anteroposterior X-ray radiographs of the involved knee.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) diagnosed as post-traumatic arthritis; (2) complicated with inflammatory arthritis or valgus deformity of the lower extremity; (3) previous history of lower extremity fractures or surgeries; (4) preoperative infection around the planned surgical site.
