Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 8-12 years; 2. A clinical diagnosis of autism and further verified by the ADOS-G, module 3; 3. A Full-scale IQ over 70 on the WISC-IV; 4. Residential location in Guangzhou city within the previous 12 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Have a cerebral palsy, brain injury, severe hearing or visual impairment, and severe metabolic disease; 2. Have severe rule-breaking, aggressive, self-injurious, and wounding behaviours within the last six months, as confirmed by Child Behavior Checklist; 3. The child has a low intrinsic motivation to participate, as indicated by the in-person intake interview; 4. The child has significant difficulties with Chinese characters reading comprehension or Mandarin expression and comprehension; 5. Have prior or current self-injury, conduct disorder, antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, or other psychiatric conditions in the history taking that may significantly interfere with participation or require other treatment.
