Interventions

Control group:Subjects were asked to maintain their usual lifestyle, dietary intake, physical activity level for 30 days.
interventional group:Subjects were asked to maintain their usual lifestyle, dietary intake, physical activity level,and eat loquat(400g/day)for 30 days.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: healthy men, aged 30–45 y, were recruited according to the following eligibility criteria: Body Mass Index (BMI) values 18.5-23.9kg/ m2, smoking at least 10 cigarettes per day for at least 5 years, no consumption of probiotics and functional foods and/or food supplements of any kind, no consumption of any medication or vitamin/mineral supplementation, Habitual diet with no more than 160g fruit and vegetables per day.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were alcohol abuse or drug use, any medication or vitamin/mineral supplementation or alternative diet (vegetarian,macrobiotic, etc.), pre-existence or clinical evidence of any gastrointestinal disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease, gastric ulcer and stomach or intestinal cancer.
