Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Class I to II healthy full-term primipara, aged 20 to 40 years; 2. Single pregnancy, cephalic position; 3. Regular contractions, cervical dilation of 2~5cm; 4. Report a baseline pain score of >5 on the Pain Numerical Rating Scale (NRS).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Body mass index (BMI) >35kg/m^2; 2. Complicated with cardiac and brain dysfunction; 3. Preeclampsia, history of drug abuse; 4. Medication for chronic pain, contraindications for intraspinal puncture; 5. Conditions that increase the risk of caesarean section (i.e. placenta previa, uterine abnormalities, or surgical history), fetal abnormalities. Patients were also excluded if delivery occurred within 1 hour of intraperitoneal analgesia.
