Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. 18-80 years old 2. GCS = 8 points (verbal response is 1 point) 3. Invasive mechanical ventilation for =48h 4. Chest CT, chest X-ray or lung ultrasound confirming the presence of pulmonary atelectasis
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. expected artificial airway maintenance 22mmHg 4. severe spinal or thoracic deformity 5. Severe underlying respiratory disease requiring long-term home oxygen therapy or non-invasive ventilation 6. Known or suspected diaphragmatic dysfunction e.g. phrenic nerve rupture, neuromuscular disease 7. Untreated tension pneumothorax 8. Active intrapulmonary haemorrhage 9. Pregnancy 10. severe haemodynamic instability (increased dose of vasoactive drugs within 2h or MAP = 65mmHg) 11. severe other organ dysfunction with expected short-term death (7 days) or palliative care 12. Other reasons deemed by the medical team to be inappropriate for treatment 13. Failure to sign an informed consent form
