Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. A clear history of LAS and no other deformities in the foot; 2. More than 2 weeks and less than 3 months about the duration of the disease[7]; 3. Consistent with Grade I and Grade II ankle sprains according to negative anterior drawer and talar-tilt tests; 4. No complete fracture of ankle ligament by MSK US and no fracture or dislocation by radiographs; 5. Age above 16 years old, under 65 years old (including 65 years old); 6. Agree to participate and sign the informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Under 16 years of age or over 65 years of age; 2. Fracture confirmed on X-ray or grade III ankle sprain; 3. A history of fracture in the same ankle during the previous year; 4. Patient with some serious disease conditions;(e.g., cancer; severe liver and kidney dysfunction; central nervous system diseases; dementia; and coagulation disorders); 5. Combined with local skin soft tissue damage or wound infection; 6. Being pregnant or breastfeeding; 7. Fainting during acupuncture or acupuncture intolerance in the past.
