Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for subthreshold depression: (1) The patient did not meet the DSM-V clinical depression diagnosis and had not previously been diagnosed as clinical depression; (2) The Chinese version of the Epidemic Research Center Depression Scale scored = 16 points; (3) The 24 item Hamilton scale scores = 8 and<20; Inclusion criteria for clinical depression: (1) Comply with the diagnostic criteria for clinical depression in DSM-V; (2) CES-D score = 16 points; (3) HAMD-24 score = 36 points. Inclusion criteria for the healthy control group: (1) Not previously diagnosed with MDD; (2) CES-D score<16 points; (3) HAMD-24 score<8 points. The three groups of subjects were consistent: (1) aged 16 to 60 years; (2) did not take any antidepressant treatment before enrollment; (3) Normal intellectual development, capable of performing functional near-infrared spectral imaging testing.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) history of other neuropsychiatric disorders; (2) taking any psychiatric medication prior to enrollment; (3) diagnosed with other serious illnesses undergoing treatment; (4) strong suicidal ideation or uncooperative patients; (5) pregnant or breastfeeding; and (6) no first-degree relatives with a mental disorder diagnosis.
