Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18 years and over, with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I to III and body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 32 kg/m2 scheduled for general surgery under general anesthesia in Shidong Hospital were considered eligible.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included: patients were allergic to the planned medication at the time of enrolment; who were known to have severe cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases, central nervous system diseases, hematologic and metabolic diseases, increased intracranial pressure and hepatic or renal abnormality. Patients who had history of alcohol or drug abuse and usage of analgesic or neuromodulating medications were also excluded.
