Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Clinical data of elderly patients (=65 years old) with multimorbidity in West China Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2017 to June 2022 were retrospectively collected. Multimorbidity refers to the following three diseases: 1) chronic physical diseases, such as coronary heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc; 2) chronic mental and psychological diseases, such as depression, schizophrenia, etc; 3) geriatric syndromes, such as dementia, depression, frailty, malnutrition, etc. If there were multiple infection events during hospitalization and the interval between the two infections was more than three weeks, each infection was regarded as an independent event. The discharge diagnosis included infectious diseases such as pulmonary infection(pneumonia), urinary tract infection(cystitis, pyelonephritis), bloodstream infection, abdominal infection, skin and soft tissue infection(furuncle,carbuncle), sepsis, etc.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who resided in geriatric wards for a long time and were readmitted only on a regular period.
