Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Age 18 to 60 years; (2) Meet the diagnostic criteria for overweight/obesity in the 2022 edition of the Expert Consensus on the Prevention and Treatment of Obesity in the Chinese Population, i.e. waist circumference (Waist Circumference, WC) = 90cm for men and = 85cm for women and 24kg/m2 = BMI = 32.5kg/m2 (3) Not receiving surgery and medication; ( (4) Good verbal and comprehension skills; (5) Voluntary participation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Participants using any weight loss diet or taking diet pills within the past 6 months; or undergoing bariatric surgery; (2) Nut allergy sufferers; (3) Dietary carbohydrates =40% of total calories in daily diet as determined by a three-day diet diary; (4) Use of diuretics, steroids, beta blockers or any medication that may affect glucose metabolism; (5) Smoking and alcohol consumption; (6) Pregnancy or breastfeeding; (7) Microvascular or macrovascular complications; (8) Tumours and severe organ disease such as heart failure, liver, kidney and brain insufficiency.
