Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. MDD diagnosis was based on the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) 7.0.2, a short structured clinical interview following DSM-5 guidelines; 2. Receive no antidepressants and antipsychotics for at least 2 weeks before treatment; 3. A total score of at least 14 on the HAMD-17; 4. Aged 18-45 years, educated at least junior high school; 5. Right handed; 6. Agree to participate in this study with informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Schizophrenia, alcohol and drug dependence that meet the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria; 2. History of seizure disorder, trauma resulting in loss of consciousness, history of major neurological or physical disorders that could lead to an altered mental state; 3. History of mania or hypomania; 4. MDD with psychotic symptoms; 5. Current pregnancy or breastfeeding; 6. Prior treatment with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or rTMS within 6 months; 7. Contraindications to MRI.
