Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Admitted to the PICU of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University from January 2015 to December 2024, diagnosed as children with severe sepsis and septic shock; 2. In line with the 2005 "Children's Sepsis" International Consensus; 3. The age is greater than 28 days; 4. There is an informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Refractory shock (i.e. patients who are expected to die within the first 24 hours); 2. Severe CHF (NYHA Grade IV); 3. Child-Pugh grade C liver disease or before liver transplantation; 4. Organ transplant recipients may use chronic glucocorticoids or immunosuppressants; 5. Chemotherapy or radiotherapy within 30 days; 6. Severe traumatic brain injury (that is, CT scan has evidence of nerve injury and GCS<8).
