Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery in our hospital (hepatobiliary, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, urological, etc.); 2. Aged >= 60 years; 3. Patients with anxiety due to surgery (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale Anxiety score greater than 7); 4. Expected duration of surgery >= 2 hours; 5. Expected length of stay after surgery >= 3 days.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of inability to communicate/neurological disease/brain injury; 2. History of preoperative depression; 3. Severe visual/auditory/smell impairment; 4. Allergy to essential oils.
