Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients are expected to be mechanically ventilated for more than 48 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with mechanical ventilation for more than 48h in the past 6 months had cervical spinal cord injury, prior neuromuscular disease, cerebrovascular disease, pregnancy, diaphragmatic hernia, rib fracture, abdominal hypertension syndrome, pneumothorax, and pleural effusion, and were less than 18 years old.
