Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ? diagnosis of class ?, division 1 malocclusion according to British Standards Institute; ? distal molar occlusion, overjet (OJ) =5.0 mm; ? Class II skeletal type, ANB angle >4°; ? 7-11 years of age at the start of treatment (late mixed or early permanent dentition); ? willing to complete the allocated treatment and follow-up assessment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants who reported history of previous orthodontic treatment, or with severe maxillary prognathism, severe dental crowding (=5 mm), lower incisor protrusion and congenitally missing teeth were excluded from the study.
