Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: ? Age 18-65 years old; ? Patients in the bARIatric surgery group met the expert consensus of the International Federation of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases in the Asia-Pacific region or the Surgical Guidelines for Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes in China (2019 edition) for surgical indications: patients whose first diagnosis was obesity or metabolic syndrome; BMI=37.5Kg/m2 with or without complications, BMI=27.5Kg/m2 lifestyle changes and medical treatment are difficult to control, and meet at least 2 components of metabolic syndrome (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, endocrine dysfunction or obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome, etc.) or have complications; The patient signed the informed consent for surgical treatment of obesity and intraoperative liver biopsy voluntarily or with the knowledge of the guardian; ? Obese MAFLD patients with type 2 diabetes treated by endocrinology department; ? Obese MAFLD patients undergoing nonsurgical weight management at a weight management center.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: ? Have a long-term drinking history, generally more than 5 years, equivalent to alcohol amount =40g/ day for men, =20g/ day for women; Or a heavy drinking history within 2 weeks, equivalent to alcohol >80g/ day (alcohol (g) = alcohol consumption (ml) × alcohol content (%) ×0.8); ? Known or found viral hepatitis (such as hepatitis B, c, etc.), autoimmune liver disease, or other chronic liver disease; ? Clear drug-induced liver disease or current use of hepatotoxic drugs (antipyretic analgesics, sulfonamides, furans, isoniazid, rifampicin); ? at the same time with cancer, HIV positive or other immunodeficiency diseases; ? Patients with weight loss correction surgery and previous liver surgery.
