18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Informed consent form obtained from the patient or next of kin; 2. 18 years old or older; 3. Within 24h of ICU admission; 4. With one or more organ failures (SOFA for any single organ system >= 2); 5. Expected to stay in ICU for more than 48 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Expected death or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments within 48h from screening; 2. Pregnant or currently breastfeeding; 3. The clinician responsible feels that patient either needs low or high protein intake as a basic treatment, such as hepatic encephalopathy or severe renal dysfunction which needs to limit protein intake, as well as severe burns or severe malnutrition which need additional protein supplementation; 4. Stayed in the hospital for more than 7 days before ICU admission; 5. Already participate in this study.
