Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients with sepsis and infectious shock who meet the diagnostic criteria of the Third Edition of the International Consensus on the Definition of Sepsis and Infectious Shock (Sepsis 3.0). The diagnostic criteria for sepsis were suspected or definite infection and a sequential organ failure score (SOFA) increase of =2 points; the diagnostic criteria for infectious shock were persistent hypotension in patients with sepsis despite adequate fluid resuscitation, requiring antihypertensive medication to maintain a mean arterial pressure (MAP) =65 mmHg and a serum lactate level >2 mmol/L; (2) age =18 years; (3) having received initial fluid resuscitation
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) known presence of the following conditions cirrhotic portal hypertension; portal vein thrombosis; end-stage renal disease or long term dialysis treatment; chronic pulmonary hypertension; severe tricuspid regurgitation; severe cardiac arrhythmias (e.g., atrial fibrillation); chronic right heart insufficiency; (2) inability to obtain satisfactory ultrasound images; (3) pregnant women; (4) patient or authorized person does not agree to sign an informed consent form
