Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Met "the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders", Fifth Edition (DSM-V); 2. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) with 24 items score > 20; 3. First onset without any treatment; 4. Right-handedness.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients and first-degree relatives had psychiatric disorders; 2. Suffering from serious neurological or mental disorders other than MDD; 3. Had any severely unstable disease that required medical treatment; 4. Drug abuse or drug dependence; 5. Had a history of craniocerebral tumor or trauma; 6. Clinically significant laboratory abnormalities; 7. Had MRI examination contraindications.
