Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The physical examination personnel are the personnel of the physical examination unit who have a long-term cooperative relationship with our hospital; 2. The trauma patients are the patients who are treated in our hospital and sign the informed consent form with our hospital.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. A manifested pre-existing inflammation, documented with CRP > 10 mg/L or WBC > 10 x 10^9/L at hospital admission; 2. A disrupted liver function with positive results in three or more of the following tests: aspartate aminotransferase (AST) > 100 U/L, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) > 100 U/L, gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) > 100 U/L, total bilirubin > 2 mg/dL, and international normalized ratio (INR) > 1.3; 3. A massive blood transfusion with more than 5000 ml of packed red blood cells (PRBC) or fresh frozen plasma (FFP) within the 48 hours of the observation period.
