Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Surgical treatment for newly diagnosed thyroid cancer. 2. Preoperative examination or intraoperative exploration suggested central lymph node metastasis (N1a) or associated cervical lymph node metastasis (N1b). 3. Preoperative imaging examination suggested that there was no obvious external invasion of the tumor or that R0 resection of the tumor could be achieved intraoperatively. 4. Preoperative examination suggested superior mediastinum with or without suspected metastatic lymph nodes. 5. No distant metastasis.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Preoperative imaging examination suggested that R0 resection could not be achieved because the tumor obviously invaded important organs such as trachea and esophagus. 2. There was clear evidence of superior mediastinal lymph node metastasis. 3. Preoperative evaluation of low-risk thyroid cancer and lymph node evaluation of cN0. 4. Total thyroidectomy was not performed. 5. Previous thyroid cancer surgery history. 6. Distant metastasis. 7. Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.
