Group of increasing concentrations of sufentainil:Using a solution of increasing concentrations of sufentanil (use a sufentanil concentration of 0.167ug/mL when cervical dilitation less than 6 cm
use a sufentanil concentration of 0.4 ug/mL when cervical dilitation within 6-10 cm) combined with 0.1% ropivacaine.
Group of fixed concentration of sufentanil :Using a solution of fixed concentration of sufentanil (a sufentanil concentration of 0.4 ug/mL) combined with 0.1% ropivacaine in first labor stage.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 20-40 years, ASA class 2, full-term ( > 37 weeks' gestation), singleton pregnancy with vertex fetal presentation, cervical dilation of 2-4 cm, visual analog scale scores >= 6 and request for epidural labor analgesia.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Puerperants with obvious cardiopulmonary diseases, contraindications to epidural anesthesia, indications to cesarean section, BMI > 36 kg/m2 were excluded, and patients allergic to local anesthetics or sufentanil were excluded. Maternal refusal was also excluded.
