18 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 18 to 75 years; 2. Cirrhosis with refractory hepatic encephalopathy; 3. Presence of spontaneous portosystemic shunt with the diameter > 10cm.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Previous treatments with TIPS or surgical shunt; 2. Child-Pugh score > 9; 3. Previous esophageal-gastric varices bleeding or refractory ascites; 4. Prescribed with antibiotics or lactulose within 4 weeks before enrollment; 5. Vital organ insufficiency (heart, lung, kidney, brain, etc.); 6. Presence of HCC beyond Milan criteria or other malignancy; 7. Residency in high altitudes (higher than 2500 meters above the sea level); 8. In pregnancy or lactation;
