Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who underwent same-day surgery under general anesthesia were included. The following cases include: thyroid lumps, benign breast masses, gallbladder stones, urinary stones, and gynecological disorders.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Cases requiring escalation of care (eg, transfer to intensive care after surgery) or interventions beyond the planned standard course of care (eg, difficult intubation, nerve blocks or intrathecal anesthesia, unexpected blood loss, or postoperative patient-controlled analgesia). Patients with chronic pharyngitis or those receiving pain medication within two weeks were also excluded.
