Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the mechanically ventilated patients with high risk factors of ARDS in ICU.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy; 2. Aged < 18 years; 3. Patients who developed ARDS before initial evaluation or blood collection; 4. The hospitalstay was shorter than 7 days, and it was unfeasible to determine the clinical outcome; 5. Patients had a history of chronic interstitial lung disease or were diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
