Age
18 Years to 80 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. early esophageal cancer limited to the mucosal layer or precancerous lesion; 2. eligible for ESD and expected mucosal defect involving >= 75% circumference; 3. no lymph node metastasis on endoscopic ultrasonography and computed tomography.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. local recurrence after previous treatment; 2. contraindications for ESD, anesthesia, and long-term steroid use ; 3. presence of a swallowing disorder or serious infectious disease of the head and neck; 4. patient desire for additional surgical treatment for non-curative endoscopic resection before complete re-epithelialization.
