14 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with intractable temporal lobe epilepsy according to the International League Against Epilepsy criteria, suitable for anterior temporal lobectomy after multidisciplinary preoperative evaluations; 2. Patients with normal brain MRI or with evidence of unilateral hippocampal sclerosis concordant with EEG findings; 3. Patients with no evidence of bilateral hippocampal sclerosis or of a secondary extrahippocampal lesion that may contribute to seizures; 4. Patients are able to complete clinical and imaging follow-up before and after surgery as required; 5. Informed consent has been signed by patients or their legal representative.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with any other neurological disorder, psychiatric disorder or serious systematic disease; 2. Patients with alcohol or other substance abuse; 3. Patients with other structural lesions except hippocampal sclerosis confirmed by postoperative histopathological examination; 4. Patients can not complete MRI scan; 5. Patients are not able to complete clinical and imaging follow-up as required.
